A Day in the Life
So I’ve been away for about a week now, marking the halfway point of my journey to the conventions, and I thought I’d check in. I am curently sitting in my hotel in Bloomington, MN, after one of the longest days I have ever had.
We left our hotel this morning at about 4:00 AM after seeing Obama and working to pack up everything until about 2:00. I could not hold my head up, but I managed to hold my own and get through the airport quickly, with enough tim to grab some coffee and breakfast. The coffee did nothing, as I had hoped, and despite my sitting next to a screaming baby, I was asleep before we took off and did not wake up until we landed in Minneapolis.
We rented a couple of cars and drove to our home for the next week, the Hampton Inn. It is a four star luxury hotel compared to our hotel in Denver. We ate some breakfast/lunch and then relaxed until our gear truck got here from Denver.
We unloaded all of our gear as well as a ton of our affiliates’ gear from the truck and then carried it up four stories to our skybox to store it for the secret service sweep that we were later informed would be tomorrow at 6:00 PM. We drove the 20 minutes or so back to our hotel. Dan and I ordered a pizza and just relaxed in our room, until we went to be early, deserving the sleep after being awake and busy for almost 40 hours.
Tomorrow morning we have a meeting at the Denny’s that is conveniently attached to our hotel, but it isn’t until later, so we can all catch up on our sleep.
The republican convention should be a smaller, less chaotic affair, but a cool experience nonetheless.
